Seizure
The initial step is to locate the stolen vehicle and ensure it is seized. This process involves coordination between the police and the relevant Interpol NCBs. Once the vehicle is located and seized, it will be secured and transported to a police station. Digitpol provides the technical support and liasion.
The Legal Challenge
Given the global issue of stolen vehicles being trafficked to West Africa, particularly Ghana, Digitpol partners with a local law firm specializing in car crime and vehicle repatriation. Every case involving the release of a stolen vehicle from Ghana requires a court decision, and this partnership ensures that legal processes are handled smoothly.
Repatriation
After the vehicle is released by the court, Digitpol arranges its transport from police custody to the port, where it is securely loaded into a shipping container. This process requires several documents, including customs clearance, to ensure legal and safe repatriation of the vehicle.
